Chris Gayle is fit and ready to face Kolkata

BANGALORE: The news of the big-hitting Chris Gayle being declared fit is enough to give struggling Team Kolkata the jitters when they run into a buoyant Team Bangalore in their IPL contest at the M Chinnaswamy stadium on Tuesday.

Bangalore's opening win against Team Delhi came as a morale-booster for an outfit that has always been a slow starter until the last edition of the League. The availability of Gayle and Tillakaratne Dilshan only adds to skipper Daniel Vettori's selection headaches.

With only four overseas players allowed to play, Gayle is likely to replace Andrew McDonald while Dilshan may have to wait his turn. Wicketkeeper-batsman AB De Villiers, Vettori and spinner Muralitharan should retain their places.

Coming in with huge expectations, Virat Kohli failed against Delhi scoring just eight, but the dashing middle order bat will be hoping to regain his form and live up to his new-found reputation. Cheteshwar Pujara and Saurabh Tiwary too will be hoping to make up for their earlier disappointments.

Frustrated by two straight defeats, Gautam Gambhir-led Kolkata will be aware that an outing against last year's finalists will not be easy. However they would be eager to break the shackles. With the likes of Gambhir, Jaques Kallis, Brendon McCullum, Manoj Tiwary and the heavy hitting Yusuf Pathan in their ranks, Kolkata boast a pretty balanced side.

The pace duo of Marchant de Lange and seasoned Brett Lee can be a threat once they get their rhythm right.
